Ambition Motorsport’s Team Boss Paul Janes returned to the kart seat for the Henry Surtees Headway Charity Karting Event held at Buckmore Park on Monday 12th July. Paul was selected by a local company Vanquish Developments to race for the team to join the company exposure and a good result at this event.
The team was split between 5 drivers with Paul securing Pole out of the 34 Teams competing with the likes of Johnny Herbert, Alex Sims, Jack Harvey, Rob Foster Jones to name but a few. With a stint of 20mins Paul lead from pole but lost the lead in the first harpin on lap 1 but before the start of lap 2 he had regained the lead at Garda and was never headed pulling away from the rest of the field until the change over. After a penalty for spinning on a yellow for the 2nd driver within the team, Vanquish had alot of catching up to do. With all drivers taking a stint at improving the positions it was decided that Paul would do the last 15mins to improve the team from 20th position. After charging through the field and setting the 2nd quickest time Paul managed to climb up to a respectable 16th position at the flag after 2.5 hours of racing. Paul would like to thank David and the team @ Vanquish on supplying him with a seat to race at this very important event and was pleased that he had shown that he hasn’t lost any of his race craft from his layoff from racing.
